Sumaraz - Germanic Summer Holidays and Þursian Perspectives
- by Wurmaz
Sumaraz translates as "Summer" in Proto-Germanic, and this book is the second instalment in a planned series of four, each focusing on North European seasonal festivals.
The first part of the book offers analyses of key features of summer celebrations across Northern Europe, exploring both general and specific traits, their nature, and the recurring themes that can be identified throughout these diverse traditions.
In the second part, the author presents his own Þursian interpretations of these festivals, examining how their elements may be made relevant for contemporary Þursian practitioners. This section also includes practical guidance on conducting a Midsummer ritual, as well as suggestions for incorporating aspects of Lokabrenna, the heliacal rising of the star Sirius, within an antinomian framework.
